The Excelsior neighborhood is found in southeastern San Francisco, located between I-280 and I-101 just below Bernal Heights. The area is lined with single family homes found along gentle hills, and it offers an unassuming aura of suburbia. Most of these homes were constructed in the 1950s and are fairly affordable, and apartments and duplexes are also available. In fact, many of the original homes were constructed with in-law suites, which create further rental opportunities. While the neighborhood isn’t known for flashy homes, fine dining, or high-end shopping, it offers plenty of options for children and families. The neighborhood curves around some of the city’s largest parks, and community events like the Excelsior Festival are held here and celebrate the community’s diversity. For families that live here, Excelsior is the ideal safe, friendly, and quiet neighborhood.
